HI folks! Welcome to Ruby's Place!

My name is Joe; and as you can see, I am the bartender here.

Ruby and I go back many years. We first met at Ricks in Casablanca. I was tend-in bar and Ruby was sing-in the "blues." She was pretty good, too!

What with the war and all, those were really bad times, but; Ruby brought a little sunshine in to our lives.

Well! That was a lot of years ago, and many miles away.

A few years ago, we teamed-up again, to establish this place as a tribute to "Rick." Where ever he might be.

After all those years, I was "get-in kind-a tired of tend-in bar." All I ever got to hear, was peoples problems.

I think I've heard them all.

Then one day, when I was feeling particularly low, I changed my mind. You ask, why? One of my regulars came in. I only knew him by the name of "Frankie." I think he was in the music business. He said he had a new song, just for me. It was called, "One For My Baby." He sang it, and Sam played it. It really cheered me up.

The song goes something like this:

It's quarter to three,
There's no one in the place except you and me,
So, set'em up, Joe,
Make it one for my baby
And one more for the road.

Well folks, that tune really got to me.

SO, I guess, just like Ruby, I'm married to this place.

I have to admit , I've met some mighty fine people here, just like you folks.
