After I eat, and several times during the day, when
there isn't much happening, I like to curl-up and take a
snooze. That miserable Birdie Byrd, stealthfully
flies down to the floor and creeps over to me, where I am
blissfully snoring away, and pulls very hard on my paw fur.
Shocked and startled, I must jump 5 feet in the air. Now,
I must tell you; "I have never tried to hurt that
insignificant runt." After all, he only weighs 6 1/2
ounces and measures 9" long, including 3" of tail feathers.
And, I weigh a hugh 13 pounds.
Then, when he's walking around the floor and I try to be
a pal to that little feathered beastie or
kiss him on his beak, he gives out this horrible,
blood-curdling screech
that makes my entire body re-verberate, and forces me to
take off to my favorite hiding place.
Now, if that isn't bad enough, he has the further
"GALL" to invade my food bowl. My mom, Rita, cooks my
favorite dish, beef and rice with carrots, flavored with
garlic. Now, see if you can imagine this; there I am,
enjoying my dinner. That "bird person" sneaks up to my
bowl, hops up on the rim, and starts eating "MY" food.
He's a vegetarian, so he only eats the rice and carrots. I
must tell you, this is very irritating to me. But, being
the "good person" I am, I restrain myself and continue
eating. After all, how much can that little runt
eat!
I must also tell you this; that Bird gets all
sorts of
good things to eat. Seeds, ugh! Pizza, french fries,
various fruits and vegetables, potato chips, cheese
crackers, cheese and bread. Oh yes, his all-time favorite, pistachio nuts. You name it, he will eat it. That is, except for meat. He does get one thing that I
envy. I never get a bone. That "Bird" gets a chicken bone everyday. A big ol thigh bone. He doesn't eat the meat off it. Throws it away. That's my table scraps from "Birdie." He opens up those bones and eats the marrow. He just
loves bone marrow. I wish I could taste bone marrow.
So folks, that's my story. I feel certain, that
Bird will be-moan his mis-treatment by me. Don't
you believe it.
